Hi Techs: I notice a 32" Sony showed up today with the same symptoms I have been trying to get rid of for the better part of this year so far. Symptom: plays perfectly no problem whatever, but at random times, possibly days apart or more the picture and raster will disappear leaving the sound perfect and changing the channels perfectly. I have been advised that it might be an IK problem caused by the picture tube being weak. It shows no signs of weakness. I have found that the high voltage and horizontal deflection have ceased. Cant find anything wrong with the horiz output or drive. There is no drive when this happens so I replaced IC351 which includes the horiz drive signal and checked it with the scope. Changed parts in the horiz drive and checked to see that the IC351 had its 9V. power when the set is down. It does.  What I would like to know is when IK kicks in is the horizontal drive supposed to be cut off. And do you think it might be cause by the picture tube arcing imperceptibly. Thanks for any help.
