Hi Ming !
Does your XP cd is at least a Service pack 2 Because on new computer you
need to have XP Sp2 to enable
SATA drive. I experience it few months ago when i tried to install OS with a
XP Sp1 Os Cd.
You probaly have to go in bios to change the SATA port to ATA
pemporarily during your test to ensure to see
the HD in XP Os.
but Your OS is probably Vista on that PC
then In the BIOS There is a utility Menu. The BIOS utility is a hardware
configuration program built into the computer's BIOS.
To activate the BIOS utility, press <F2> during the POST; while the notebook
PC
logo is being displayed.
To set the boot sequence in the BIOS utility, activate the BIOS utility,
then select
Boot from the categories listed at the top of the screen.
Enable disk-to-disk recovery
To enable disk-to-disk recovery (hard disk recovery), activate the BIOS
utility,
then select Main from the categories listed at the top of the screen.
Find D2D Recovery at the bottom of the screen and use the <F5> and <F6>
keys to set this
value to Enabled.
To start the recovery process:
1 Restart the system.
2 While the Acer logo is showing, press <Alt> + <F10> at the same time to
enter the recovery process.
3 Refer to the onscreen instructions to perform system recovery
This feature occupies 10 GB in a hidden partition on
your hard disk.
