[TV] 62HMX94 Toshiba digital unit with disintegrated connector?- NLA

Customer just came in with this story/problem.
(This tv is still at another local shop, cust came to us
for advise with a hand full of paper work).
Original problem was interm sound.
Another local shop replaced both speakers and output IC.
Still had same prob so they took the set into the shop.
Then cust gets a call that the light engine is bad (the tv had
been working perfectly ok except for sound prob).
They send in the lite engine to toshiba for rebuilding.
Then cust gets a call that the digital unit is bad - a connector
for one of the cables has "disintegrated" suddenly and the
digital unit is NLA (23148143, I did confirm this part nla).
The other shop says this is a COMMON problem.
Any one have any comment?  Is this a common problem?
Sounds kinda suspicious to me but I only have 1 side.
